Karohi Haveli
The specialty of the karohi Haveli is its traditional Rajasthani architecture and the huge area covered by it. It has lush green lawns which are huge and beautiful and offers a breathtaking view of the surroundings. Each room has a wonderful view of the lake and a terrace with beautiful panoramic views of the City Palace, Lake Pichola, Havelies, Temples the Old City and also Lake Swaroop Sagar. You can request a boat ride on the lake or cultural performances with a little advance notice.
This Haveli is well designed and located on the top of a hill which is very peaceful & pollution free. It fronts onto Lake Pichola near the Hanuman Ghat and is directly opposite the magnificent shoreline of City Palace, Lal Ghat and the old city. It is comfortable, clean and elegant.
The Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai singh (1559 AD) as a capital of Mewar .Maharana Jai Singh Ji (1737 AD) was ruler of mewar had three sons.The eldest was Amar Singh Ji 2nd (1756 AD) who was descendent of maharana of mewar .The younger one was maharaj Pratap Singh Ji ‘Bawlas’. The youngest son maharana was maharaj ummed singh Ji who got “ karohi “.
The Karohi haveli was built in 1820 AD as a residence of Karohi noble family. The Maharaj Vijay singh ji & his son maharaj Shiv Singh Ji & his grand son Maharaj Dr.Sangram singh ji karohi & his wife Kawrani sahiba Hem Kunwar decided to convert the haveli (noble residence) ito an exquisite heritage hotel maintaining all the anicient Rajasthani traditional features with luxary & modern amenities . Later on the renovation were made by their son Maharaj Shakti singh ji ,Shri Sudarshan dev singh Ji & shri Natraj Singh Ji “KAROHI” & family for preserving the havelies historic magnificence while introducing modern day amentinies including luxary & modern facilities for special need of all the valuable guests.
